Turkey Trot 2012

I’m hooked. I’m so hooked I’m trying to figure out a plan so I don’t have to stop. Or at least can partake more often!

Now don’t go get your panties in a bunch, this is a good thing. I’m talking about running and racing.

I know I’m not the fastest runner so it’s a good thing it isn’t about winning. You see, it’s about improving; and going further and faster; and having fun!

And then because you can surprise yourself, that “fun run” may just turn out to be your new PR.

That was my Thanksgiving day Turkey Trot on Thursday.

For the first time in awhile I thought about taking a walking break. My legs felt like lead and I was sure I was moving like a turtle.

Remember how the tortoise beats the hare? My ego was the hare and my body was the tortoise. My body won and when I found out I beat my PR by nearly a whole minute, I felt like I won that race.

Just goes to show you to keep persevering when things get hard; whether that be in your effort to start a workout routine or healthy lifestyle change; running another mile; or something challenging going on in your life.

You just may surprise yourself!

While Thanksgiving may be past us, I committed myself to a whole month of  being thankful; a whole month of taking it one day at a time and really appreciating some of the smallest, simplest and even largest of things.

So today I’m thankful for one of the simplest things: flowers

They have this way of making me happy simply by being.  It doesn’t get any better.

What are you thankful for today?

Are you doing anything fun this weekend?

You are awesome! Can’t wait till I can run again…and I think that might be soon! Although it will likely be treadmill running because it will probably be snowing by the time I start.

Congrats on the PR AND passing your certification!! So so happy for you!! 🙂 <3

I looked at my dad and said “I can’t complain about that run anymore” and he was like “nope.” 🙂
