Rest, thatโs been key. Lots and lots of rest. Iโm hoping after a few days of taking it easy, Iโll bounce back and feel like myself again. But meanwhile, I know some of you are dying interested to hear about my trip to Tulsa so I better fill you in. ๐
My parents picked me up early Friday morning and we made our way to the airport. Since I wasnโt sure if I might have to change my flight for any work things, we bought insurance on my flight. To my surprise and delight, that also came with 1 free checked bag + a coupon for a beer, wine or cocktail on the plane.
I was hoping for a mimosa (hello, it was 11:30 when we took off!) but no champagne meant that I settled for a glass of wine. It wasnโt great but it was enjoyed. ๐
We landed in Tulsa and the weather was gorgeous! It was right around 70 and sunny and when we got to the hotel and were asked if we wanted to sit outside for lunch I answered โyesโ before anyone else could speak up. #sorrynotsorry
We had a couple of hours to kill before the rehearsal dinner so we found some other family for a quick hello and then relaxed in our rooms for a few hours. I had some work stuff come in during all the traveling so I took a little time to catch up on that, took a quick cat nap and got myself all prettied-up.
The rehearsal dinner was great – time with family, great food, funny toasts and of course getting to start celebrating the happy couple.
We had a lot of time to kill on Saturday since the wedding wasnโt until 6pm. We gathered a group together and walked to breakfast, walked around downtown Tulsa (I swear Iโve never seen such an empty city!), got in a great 4 mile run in the hotel, dodged the rainstorm that came in mid-afternoon and once again, prettied-up for the wedding.
The wedding itself was short, sweet and beautiful.
The reception was just as beautiful and a blast! While the music wasnโt my style (sorry cuz!), we all had a great time hanging out, sporting some shades and hitting up the photo booth.
Welcome to the cousins, Tiffany! ๐
Sunday we hit up breakfast and made our way back to Chicago exhausted from a great weekend.
What was the last wedding you went to?
Have you ever been to Tulsa? Was it EMPTY?

Looks like a fun weekend!! You probably didn’t notice it while we were in Minneapolis, but the downtown area there during the weekend mornings is also very quiet.
I remember it was quieter on the run but I swear Tulsa was abandoned the WHOLE weekendโฆlol
Thanks for posting about your weekend. I like the way you stitch the pictures in with your story and describe the sights, tastes, and sounds. Makes me feel like I’m there!
Thanks, dude! ๐
