What to do when you don’t feel like blogging

I’ve been in a weird state…despite having several “mark all as read” moments because I don’t feel like playing blog-reading-catch-up, I’ve also been taking days off from blogging once and awhile.  This used to never happen! And while that’s OK, it’s still been weird for me.

So, I thought I’d give some advice to anyone in my boat…

What to do when you don’t feel like blogging:

Step 1: Take a deep breath

Step 2: Don’t blog

Step 3: Remember it’s OK to take a day or two or twenty off

Step 4: Go out and LIVE life!

Step 5: Come back when it feels right and not a moment earlier

Am I missing any steps?

Considering my post today was called “Why I’m Not Reading Your Blog” I’m glad I did take a second to catch up on a few of your posts. 🙂 This is SO true, and I think something we all just need to DO. After two straight years of blogging EVERY DAY, it was really hard to even give up weekends last spring. Then I gave up a little more. And then some more. And now I really feel like I’m only blogging when I want to (unless I have a review to do or something like that, which hopefully I want to do….) I think the best thing to do is keep in perspective WHY you blog, which, hopefully is for you. [I don’t make any money off of mine any more so that is also a huge factor. Sometimes I feel like I have to read other people’s blogs so that they will read mine, which is a screwed up perspective.]

I took a break from blogging for a while and now I am back, but only a few times a week. It feels nice not to have such a hard line.

This is me exactly! I’ve never been a routine blogger though. With a full time job outside of home and a 4 year old when I started blogging, I just didn’t have the time to make it a top priority. Still seems to be that way. Plus its my fun hobby, no pressure tied to it!

I’ve been having these moments a lot lately. I think it is the stress of life and having so many other things going on that I can’t share with the blog world causing me not want to blog. I’m going to take your advice and just go out and live life and blogging will come when it wants to 🙂

This is why I only post once a week. My life gets TOO hectic (as I am sure everyone’s does) so I just don’t have time to think about blogging… Once a week though, I will post – like today, I call it Tasty Tuesday – that way I don’t get burnt out, I only get excited 🙂

I have always been a sporadic blogger! I love not having to pressure myself into posting (although I still seem to at times). It’s weird too because sometimes I could spend all day blogging and others I just want to keep my dang laptop closed! I think it’s one of those creativity things…like when inspiration hits–it’s awesome! When there’s nothing there then the post will seem flat even if I still try for a post.
