When was the last time you tried something new?
When was the last time you pushed yourself? Challenged yourself? Decided that you are willing to step outside of your comfort zone and grow into an even better version of the amazing person you already are?
For me, it’s been happening quite a bit the last few weeks.
I came out of July feeling exhausted. It was to be expected as I knew it was going to be a very busy month. I knew my self-care routine, workouts, and likely also my nutrition wouldn’t quite be where I prefer or where I feel my best. I went into the month knowing I would do my best, but where I would have grace for myself when things went off track.
And that’s exactly what I did.
But I still came back exhausted and what came with that, that was unexpected, was almost this lack of motivation or laziness to get back to my routine. My workouts felt unmotivated, like I was going through the motions rather than pushing myself. The snooze alarm won out time and time again, instead of reminding myself that it usually just takes letting my feet his the floor and a swig of coffee from the fridge. Morning meditation happened in bed again instead of getting myself up and to my seat, where I know I always feel best to move from my day from that space.
Needless to say, I knew something had to change. Something had to give.
When this happens, I know I need a push in a direction that makes me a bit uncomfortable and quite honestly, scared. So that’s what I’ve done.
I’ve been running more, further, and farther. I’m looking for races to stay motivated and looking at joining at running community in my area.
I’ve tried rock climbing. I had moments of fear and embarrassment, but then moments of feeling so excited when i got to the top of the wall and back down again without needing to fall to the mat below me.
I’ve put myself out there to meet new people, try new restaurants, and just see what life has in store for me.

I’m not someone who can sit by and wait for something to change, that’s not how life works. When you’re feeling stuck, in whatever capacity of your life that my be, it requires trying new things and getting a little uncomfortable. It’s in those moments that we realize just how strong, badass, and amazing we truly are and can be.
