How was everyone’s weekend?
I spent mine visiting the boy which was quite nice. We watched a couple really good movies, brewed kombucha, bottled beer and slept in. I like to think I’m pretty easy to please and honestly a relaxing weekend is almost always what the doctor ordered. This weekend, that was exactly the case.
But now we’re at the start of a new week…one that I anticipate will be quite busy and difficult to plan. Instead of allowing that to stress me out, I’m trying my best to embrace the unexpected that comes with it and just enjoy whatever life throws my way. Easier said than done, of course, but i’m working on it. ..that’s what counts, right? 😉
With a new week at my finger tips, comes new music. I like music that reaches out to share a story, especially one that I can relate to (in a few different ways). As I sat in traffic on my 4 hour drive back home last night, I chose podcasts over music. With a million thoughts running through my head (that’s a conversation for another day), sometimes it’s easier to listen to others have a conversation that gets me thinking about a whole other load of things. At the same time, it surprisingly allowed me to work through a few conversations with myself.
On making decisions; on fear of making the “wrong” decision; on only wanting to make the “right” decision; on the question of having no way of actually knowing if a decisions would be right or wrong until it gets further down the line after it’s already been made. In the words of the boy, “it comes down to just making a decision.” And he’s right. (Oh man, he’s going to get so used to hearing that… 😉 )

I’m lucky enough to have friends who live all over the country. Actually, all over the world. And despite how lucky I am to have so many people who care about me and my well-being, it’s never easy to leave them. Whether it be for a couple days, weeks or some unknown period of time.
Sometimes we have to remember that “home” is wherever there is someone we care about. It could be near or far from the place that we actually live, but that doesn’t make it any less “home” when we are with them. Sometimes that is hard to remember.
So when I find myself in this position of having to make a decision, it’s important to remember this fact of home. More on this another day… For now, let’s just enjoy the music and this song Wherever is Your Heart by Brandi Carlile.
Tell me something fun about your weekend! What did you do?
What are you listening to to start off your week?
