Happy Monday! Did you all have a good weekend?
Mine was spent amidst a sea of boxes as I organized and packed and tried to get myself in a good place as I look towards my move this weekend. I will actually be picking up my keys after work today but all of the heavy lifting (quite literally) won’t be happening until Saturday when my parents get to town.
I’ll be honest, I’m having some major separation anxiety over my yoga studio though and knowing that being a 40 minute drive vs. a 10 minute drive means I won’t make it there nearly as often as I do now. I paid for a year upfront which goes until mid-February so I’m hoping to figure out in the next few months what feels like an attainable amount before buying another membership, plus I plan to try a couple studios around where I’ll be living and see if I find one I like as much.
Admittedly I was hoping to pack my week last week with as much yoga as humanly possible, but my body thought differently and I found myself battling one of the worst migraines in a very long time, maybe ever. It lingered for a few days where water, coffee, peppermint oil, chiropractic adjustments or even my prescription couldn’t help take it all the way down and within about 30 minutes of walking in the door from work Wednesday night, I was in bed in tears and basically shaking uncontrollably, where I had to crawl around my apartment on my hands and knees to get the number for my doctor. Needless to say, I ended up calling a friend who picked me up and took me to the ER where they gave me a triage of medication and sent me home to pass right out, which is exactly what I did.
Thursday was a bit of a blur. I worked from home since I was super groggy from the meds and not sure if driving was a great idea, but come Friday I was back at yoga first thing in the morning. These next couple weeks are going to just get busier and busier, but I know that’s the case for all of us and honestly, I’m not really complaining about it. 🙂
Anyway, enough about migraines…one of my favorite things about moving is the opportunity to quite literally clean house. I am one of those crazy people who loves to sort through their stuff and decide what I actually want to keep, what to donate or sell, and what to toss. For the last week or two, I’ve been going through old CDs and burning them to my iTunes library and setting them aside for a future garage sale. I’m so happy that is finally done and now my CD collection has been narrowed down to one small box with CDs I’m keeping for sentimental purposes, like bands I worked with, signed copies, etc.
Thankfully the other great thing about packing is being able to just blast some music and sing and dance along and that’s just what I did all weekend while listening to Lissie’s ‘My Wild West’ album; it seriously made the perfect soundtrack to my packing. Though admittedly, I kept starting various packing projects and then got sidetracked by another pile of stuff, the need for more coffee or water or food, or who even knows what else, but the music made the perfect backdrop to the busy weekend at hand.
How was your weekend?
Do you enjoy moving?

The mechanics of moving I don’t particularly enjoy, but the thought of a fresh start is wonderful.

Glad you got some rest, migraines are really bad. My body and yoga just do like each other. I am a walker. Hope you had a great weekend .

Ugh I had a migraine last night! THE WORST! Hope you have a good week!
That’s the worst part about moving is leaving all the places you love behind! I’m 30-45 mins away now from some of my favorite fitness studios and honestly never get to go…but the fun thing is trying out new ones by your new place! Hope the move goes well!

i love cleaning house when I move. I just had to pack most of my stuff in a week for a move back home to help take care of my mom. I’m struggling with what I left behind (boyfriend and his daughters) and physical important items like a painting my Nana painted. Moving is complicated emotionally. That dinner looks delicious!
Being able to purge is definitely one of the highlights of packing. It seems like that type of cleansing can’t happen otherwise.
P.S. Sorry to hear about your migraines. Those are BRUTAL!
I never really thought about having a packing soundtrack, but it makes total sense. 🙂 Good luck with your move and I hope you are feeling better today!
Sorry to hear about your migraines!! Hope packing is going well and that your move goes smoothly, Katie!
xo, Laura ?
I’m sorry to hear about your migraine. I hope you’re feeling better.
Thanks for sharing that song. ?
Don’t you just hate when you think your weekend is set but your body has other plans. I slept on my neck all sorts of wrong Thursday night and it left me, my neck, head and back out of commission all weekend, which was a bummer cause it’s a 4-day weekend for my older two kids. I wanted to enjoy that time with them, ya know? And since my toddler is still nursing I couldn’t take anything stronger than a Tylenol. I was in MAJOR PAIN.
Anyway, hope your move moves along smoothly and you find a yoga place you enjoy just as much.
P.S. I enjoyed the song as I typed this comment. Thank you 🙂

I absolutely despise moving- but maybe if it was into my dream home I would have a change of heart 🙂
I’m with you on the whole “moving is cleaning” thing! We moved across country to Tennessee to a VERY small apartment so I had to toss out/donate a bunch of things. It’s amazing what you don’t need when you don’t have space for it!

So glad you are better – migraines are just no fun and I can imagine how bad it must have been to make you go to the ER.
Good luck for the move – I am sure you will figure things out with your yoga studio.
Happy Monday xxx
